About Jennifer Henry
Jennifer’s interest in acupuncture began with a severe back injury in her early twenties. By using a combination of treatments, which included Chinese medicine, Jennifer avoided the radical surgery that was said to be necessary. This experience directed her interest toward the body’s natural healing ability and the modalities that support that process.
She received her Bachelors degree in Biology from UCSB and her Masters degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine (SBCOM).
She continued her post-graduate studies in Orthopedic Acupuncture, addiction recovery, internal medicine, facial rejuvenation acupuncture and amino acid therapy. Jennifer also completed internships at the Morinomia College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Osaka, Japan, and at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Bejing, China. She has studied CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute since 1995.
Since 2003, she has maintained a private practice in Santa Barbara and worked with addiction recovery agencies on the south coast. Jennifer has enjoyed developing and teaching courses at SBCOM to incoming graduate students and supervising interns in the student acupuncture clinic. In 2008 Jennifer, and her partners at Santa Barbara Acupuncture Associates (SBAA), opened the Santa Barbara Community Acupuncture Clinics where they practice community-style acupuncture.
Jennifer is licensed in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine by the State of California and by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is a board certified Orthopedic Acupuncturist and Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist.
Jennifer has lived in Santa Barbara for over 20 years. In her free time she enjoys kiteboarding, knitting, hiking in the beautiful Santa Barbara mountains with her dog Izzy and vacationing in the Northern Sierras near her home town.
