Are there side effects to acupuncture?

Not usually. There are very few complications that can occur as a result of acupuncture. Occasionally your symptoms may increase for a few hours or, rarely, a couple of days. You may also experience changes in your appetite, sleep or emotional state. These reactions are nothing to be concerned about and are actually a sign that the treatment is taking effect. Patients also can feel sleepy or a bit disoriented after a treatment, however this lasts for only a short time.
